10.25% Sales Tax

The city lawmakers in Chicago, IL decided that since they had a budget gap of billions they would raise sales tax in Cook county. Their infinite wisdom had them doing the same thing to gas and ciggaretts a few years ago. In response to the higher prices everybody went outside Cook county to purchase their goods. There by resulting in an even bigger budget gap instead of smaller. Starting in November of this year sales tax will be 10.25% on everything. Doesn't that sound like a good plan? The wonderful law makers look at the numbers and see a solution. What they realize is that it now will be cheaper to buy gas to drive outside the county to purchase ANYTHING. Chicago will have the highest taxes in the country. Now aren't you all jealous you don't live here?

It sucks for you guys but I'm glad I'm not the one paying the highest anymore! Sales tax is 9% in Spokane.
